Nothing but the 90’s With Craig Hicks

Tuesday 6 pm UK, Thursday 12:00 pm UK

Ok so let’s be honest, the 90’s are a truly maligned decade, but they were always going to have a really hard act to follow, coming off the musical heavy weight that was the 80’s.

True, the 90’s were responsible for some truly awful, savage acts of music, but there were also some true gems in the mix to, and i intend to try and bring you a good mix of these in the show, plus maybe a we sprinkle of the, well more interesting tracks of the decade!

Well it’s only fair! Of course I am no expert, so feel free to pepper me with your 90ss choices through out the show, and I shall do my best to get them on.

Songs From The Attic

Monday: 7:00 pm UK, Wednesday 2:00 pm UK

During the mid sixties in the United States, FM radio launched the AOR (Album Oriented Radio) format. This new format opened the door for a looser more freeform presentation of the music, focusing more on longer album cuts and less on hit singles. Artists like Genesis, Yes, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Traffic, The Eagles and Moody Blues got air play they wouldn’t have gotten on top 40 stations.

In the seventies and eighties, the AOR format evolved into arena rock with bands like Foreigner, Rush, Triumph, Van Halen, Deep Purple, Metallica and Scorpions. This show focuses on the Classic Rock era, from the mid sixties to the mid nineties, covering it all, from folkrock to progressiverock and Hair to Grunge, with some alternative gems thrown in for good measure. Songs From The Attic are all those forgotten classics plus maybe some undiscovered tresures.

Janet and DJ love the music and love talking about it.

The Dispatch

Monday 10 pm UK, Friday 6 pm UK

The Dispatch began in 2006 as a college radio program out of universities in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and, later, Trinity College Dublin.

There is but one criterion required for a song to appear on the show: “be good”. Predominately rock-centric, the musical style will sometimes meander into folk, punk, hardcore, metal, electronic, hip-hop or songs that feature a blend of these categories of music. Again, if it’s good, it can possibly be heard on the show!

Over the two hours your loyal host, Me, Adam, aspires to make the show have a rhythm of its own, possibly changing in mood, tempo or shifting gears to create a pattern designed to be evocotave and listenable as a whole; eclectic without being jarring.

Another main goal of the show is for listeners to discover their newest favorite music. To that end, requests are also always very welcome.

The music you listen to now is the soundtrack of your life. Tune in and have your playlist updated!

Straight up the 70’s

Saturday 7:00 pm UK, Tuesday 3:00 pm UK

Music, for me, is a huge voyage of discovery. Whether it jogs a memory or creates one or two, the joy of listening to a variety of tracks is wonderful.

This is something that I’d love to share with you through Straight up the 70’s.

Saturday nights are meant for music and it’s great to share this together.

It’s good to stray away from the norm from time to time and this is what I do by playing tracks from a decade where the music was so diverse and different. The 70’s was a decade where the album came to the fore and the riches of the unknown and undiscovered are there to be heard. From classic and folk rock to soul and from pop to punk, we’ll span the genres on Straight up the 70’s.

Features include playing tracks from albums that were highly influential at this time of year during the 70’s. The three of a kind slot takes a featured artist and highlights three tracks that help to discover work from the popular to the unknown. In addition, test your memory and knowledge with the first in last out feature which plays the first track of an artist of the decade and then asks ‘what was their last out’ of the 70’s.

Most of all, your requests are more than welcome and please feel free to get in touch. Additionally, please feel free to suggest artists for the three of a kind slot and also to highlight influential and important albums from this time.
